My Journey to UI/UX

For the past few years, a statement has been repeated around me so often it would be a refrain if my life was a poem. The statement? ‘Tech is the future’ I know I have to be a part of that future so even though I have minimal knowledge of the Tech world, I knew I needed to key myself into that future. Like it's said, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second-best time is now. I choose now; it’s the only real choice available anyway.

Kitan David, CEO of 115Garage, is like the Apostle Paul of old. He is vociferous and ubiquitous with his message -the gospel of UI/UX. When that gospel got to me, I believed. I did some researches and I realized it will be a good fit for an analytic mind like mine. From the start, it has become utterly clear that this is a path that requires commitment, consistency, and willpower.

This, for me, isn’t a sprint, it is a marathon and I hope to run it right and run it well. It is my plan to keep constant documentation of my journey, via blog posts, podcasts, and video recordings for two reasons. Firstly, there is a young man out there in an African country, disadvantaged by age, finances, background, and opportunities who might someday consider threading this path or a similar one, I hope the wealth of the resources I would have kept over time would be a motivation, a guide, and an influence. To that young man, I reiterate the fact that I don’t even use Microsoft Word well enough. The second reason I do this? For me, because I know I can and because I need to make this investment now for the future.
